This course is designed to address the unique challenges faced by first responders and medical professionals who dedicate their lives to serving others in high-stakes and demanding environments. This course goes beyond conventional self-care by providing practical strategies to recognize, mitigate and recover from compassion fatigue, secondary traumatic stress, vicarious trauma, and burnout. Factors at the personal, professional, and organizational levels will be examined. The psychological and physiological impact of prolonged exposure to trauma and high stress will also be explored and discussed. Participants will leave with the knowledge and tools necessary to enhance resilience, maintain well-being and thrive in demanding roles.
